4-[2-Methyl-4-(4-Methylphenyldiazenyl)-Phenoxy]Phthalonitrile

Abstract

The title compound, C22H16N4O, displays a trans configuration with respect to the - N = N - double bond, as found for other diazene derivatives. There is a weak intramolecular C - H (...) N hydrogen bond, which seems to have an effect on the molecular conformation. The crystal packing is governed by weak intermolecular C - H (...) N and C - H (...) O hydrogen bonds, and weak C - H (...) pi stacking.
