Ortaokul 5. Sınıf Öğrencilerinde İnsan ve Çevre İlişkisi Konusunda Bilimsel Karikatürler Kullanarak Farkındalık Oluşturulması

Abstract

Araştırma, bilimsel karikatürler içeren çalışma yaprakları kullanılarak 5. sınıf öğrencilerinde 'İnsan ve Çevre İlişkisi' konusunda farkındalık oluşturulması ve kullanılan çalışma yapraklarının öğrencilerin konuya yönelik motivasyonlarına etkisinin belirlenmesi amacı ile yapılmıştır. Araştırma nicel ve nitel verilerin birlikte kullanıldığı karma araştırma yöntemine uygun olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırma, temel amacına uygun olarak ön test - son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desenine göre tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Çorum ilinde bir devlet ortaokulunda 5. sınıfta öğrenim gören 32 deney ve 32 kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplam 64 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. 'İnsan ve Çevre İlişkisi' konusu deney grubunda bilimsel karikatürler içeren çalışma yaprakları kontrol grubunda ise uygulamadaki yöntem kullanılarak işlenmiş olup, her iki grupta da haftada 4 ders saati olmak üzere toplam 10 ders saatinde tamamlanmıştır. Araştırmada 'İnsan ve Çevre İlişkisi Farkındalık Testi' uygulama öncesi ön test ve uygulama sonrası son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Deney grubu öğrencilerine yapılan bilimsel karikatür içerikli uygulamanın motivasyonlarına etkisini belirlemek amacıyla 'Motivasyon Değerlendirme Formu', bilimsel karikatürler hakkındaki görüşlerini belirlemek için de 'Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu' uygulama sonrasında uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada İnsan ve Çevre İlişkisi Farkındalık Testi'nden elde edilen nicel verilerin analizi SPSS istatistik programı ile gerçekleştirilmiş olup, sonuçlar yüzde (%) ve frekans (f) olarak analiz edilmiştir. Motivasyon değerlendirme ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formlarından elde edilen veriler ile çalışma yapraklarının 'düşüncelerimiz' ve 'sonuçlar' bölümlerine verilen öğrenci cevaplarından elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ile frekans (f) olarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada deney grubuna uygulanan bilimsel karikatürlerle yapılan öğretimin, kontrol grubuna uygulanan yönteme göre öğrencilerde insan ve çevre ilişkisi farkındalıklarını artırdığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada öğrencilerde özellikle çevre kirliliği, çevre koruma, sera etkisi, küresel ısınma ve küresel iklim değişikliği konuları ile ilgili bilinen yanlış bilgilerin bilimsel karikatürler içeren çalışma yapraklarının kullanılmasıyla giderildiği gözlenmiştir. Ayrıca öğrenciler çevre konularına yönelik ilgi ve motivasyonlarının arttığını bilimsel karikatürlerle işlenen dersi daha çok sevdiklerini ve derslerin daha eğlenceli geçtiğini, ders boyunca yapılan tartışmaların faydalı olduğunu, öğrenilen bilgilerin kalıcılığının arttığını ifade etmişlerdir.

The study was carried out with the aim of creating awareness about 'Human and Environmental Relationship' in the 5th grade students by using the work sheets including scientific cartoons and determining the effect of the work sheets used on the students' motivations for the subject. The research was conducted in accordance with the mixed research method in which was used together both quantitative and qualitative data. The research was planned according to the pre-test and post-test control group quasi-experimental design. The study group consists of a total of 64 students, 32 in the 5th grade students and 32 in the control group students in a secondary school in Çorum. 'Human and Environmental Relationship' study was carried out in the experimental group by using scientific cartoons in the control group. In both groups, 4 lessons per week were completed in 10 lessons. In the study, 'Human and Environmental Relationship Awareness Test ' was applied as pre-test and post-test as a final test. 'Motivation Evaluation Form' was applied to the experimental group students in order to determine the effects of scientific cartoon content on the motivations of the application, in addition to this, ın Semi-Structured Interview Form was applied to determine the opinions about the scientific cartoons. The analysis of the quantitative data obtained from the Human-Environment Relation Awareness Test was carried out by SPSS statistical program and the results were analyzed as percentage (%) and frequency (f). Data obtained from motivational evaluation and semi-structured interview forms and data obtained from student responses to in 'our thoughts' and 'results' sections of work sheets were analyzed as frequency (f) with content analysis. In the research, it was concluded that the scientific cartoons applied to the experimental group increased the awareness of human and environmental relations in the students according to the method applied to the control group. In the research, it has been observed that the known misinformation about environmental pollution, environmental protection, green house effect, global warming and global climate changing has been eliminated by the use of scientific cartoons. In addition, the students expressed that their interest and motivation for environmental issues increased, they liked the course with scientific cartoons and the lessons were more enjoyable, the discussions that were held throughout the course were beneficial and the permanence of the knowledge increased.
