İlköğretim İngilizce Ders Kitaplarındaki (11-14 Yaş) Resimlemelerin Çocukların Yaş Grubuna Uygunluğu

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, Türkiye'de Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu Başkanlığı tarafından kabul edilen ilköğretim İngilizce ders kitaplarındaki (11-14 yaş) resimlemelerin; kapak, fotoğraf ve resimlemeler açısından çocukların yaş grubuna uygun olup olmadığının tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu tez çalışması başta ilköğretimde çalışan öğretmenler olmak üzere ders kitabı seçme ve değerlendirme görevini üstlenecek öğretmenlere örnek oluşturacağı düşünülmektedir.Örneklemi oluşturan İngilizce ders kitaplarında kullanılan fotoğraf, resimleme ve karikatür kullanım yoğunluğu tespit edilip, her bir görselin metinle ilişkisi ve plastik problemleri incelenmiştir. Yapılan araştırmalarda ders kitaplarında kullanılan görsellerin daha önce de incelendiği, fakat bu ders kitaplarının ağırlıklı olarak Türkçe, Hayat Bilgisi, Fen Bilgisi, Matematik ve Bilgisayar ders kitapları alanlarında yoğunlaştığı görülmüştür. Bu anlamda da araştırmanın bu alandaki boşluğu dolduracağı düşünülmektedir.Ders kitabı resimlemeleri belirli estetik kaygılar dikkate alınarak çocukların zihinsel ve resimsel gelişim düzeylerine uygun olarak hazırlanmalıdır. Araştırmada incelenen İngilizce 6., 7. ve 8. sınıf ders kitaplarında baskı kalitesinin çok düşük olduğu ve resimlemelerle fotoğrafların bir arada kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca figürlerdeki anatomik bozukluklar çocukların sanatsal gelişimlerinde olumsuzluklara neden olacak boyuttadır. Bazı resimlemelerde cetvel kullanımı ve şablonlaşmaya yönelik görseller karşımıza çıkmıştır. Bu durum kitabın görsel tasarım yönünden bazı uyumsuzluklara sahip olduğu ve yeniden ele alınarak öğrenci için daha uygun bir hale getirilmesi gerektiğini ortaya çıkmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Resimleme, Görsel, İngilizce, İlköğretim, Ders Kitabı, Yaş Grubu

In this study, it has been aimed to determine whether the illustrations in the English lesson books of the primary school (11-14 ages), which have been accepted by national Education Ministry's Instructions and Teaching Committee in Turkey, are suitable or not by means of cover, photograph and illustration. It has been thought that this study it would be an example for the teachers who work mainly in primary schools and take responsibility to choose and assess lesson books.The density of using photographs, illustrations and caricatures in the sample English lesson books have been determined and the relevance of each visual item with the text and plastic problems have been examined. In the researches fulfilled, it has been seen that the visual items used in the lesson books had been examined before but those lesson books were generally in the fields of Turkish. Knowledge of Life, Knowledge of Science, Maths and Computer. By means of this, the research has been considered to cover a need.The illustrations of the lesson books should be prepared in accordance with, the mental and pictorial development levels of the children by taking some certain aesthetic worries into consideration. In the English lesson books of 6.,7. and 8. grades, it has been determined that the printing quality is very low and that the illustrations are used together with the photographs. Also, the anatomical defects in the figures are to the extent that they may cause negativenesses in the artistic developments of the children. In some illustrations, we have come across with visual items intended for using a ruler and making a template. This situation has revealed that the book has some inhaononious sides by means of design and it has to be made more convenient for the students by revising.Key Words: Illustration,Visual items, English, Primary Education, Lesson Book, Age Group.
