Abstract
In this work, by using a classic electromechnical controlledcapacitor switched compensation system combined with DStatcom (which is a shunt compansator), it is aimed to improve the reactive power compensation of loads. In classic compensation, because of the capacitor banks is activated according to the load condition, exact compensation of loads (which can be in every value) is almost not possible. DStatcom, as a power elecronics based FACTS controller, is a structure that can supply reactive power in every desired rates. So, it appers as a solution to this problem. Reactive power compensation of the loads by using only FACTS controllers isn't reasonable, because of economical reasons. So, here, a compensation system in which a D-Statcom combined with a classic compensation system is proposed. In this structure, DStatcom supplies the reactive power that out of the switching range of classic compensation system. This structure is analysed in Matlab/Simulink environment by simulations.
