4-(Anthracen-9-ylmethoxy)Phthalonitrile

Abstract

The structural properties of C<inf>23</inf>H<inf>13</inf>N <inf>2</inf>O<inf>1</inf> was investigated using x-ray analysis technique. The compound was prepared from anthracen-9-ylmethanol and 4-nitrophthalonitrile. It was observed that the compound consisted of a benzene ring carrying two cyano groups linked to an anthracene moiety through an ether linkage. The dihedral angle between the dicyanobenzene C1-C8 and the methylanthracene C9-C23 fragments was found to be 66.34 (4)°.
