Abstract
Bu araştırmada, 2004 Fen ve Teknoloji dersi öğretim programının uygulanabilirliği, ilköğretim I. kademe 4. ve 5. sınıf öğrencileri ile ilköğretim II. kademe öğrencilerinin görüşlerine göre değerlendirilmiştir. Bu amaçla 2007-2008 eğitim-öğretim yılında Samsun merkez ilköğretim okullarından 9 ilköğretim okulunda öğrenim gören; 4. sınıf öğrencisi 220, 5. sınıf öğrencisi 218, 6. sınıf öğrencisi 295, 7. sınıf öğrencisi 225, 8. sınıf öğrencisi 169, pilot okullarda bulunan 8. sınıf öğrencisi 211 olmak üzere toplam 1338 öğrenci ile araştırma gerçekleştirilmiştir.Elde edilen veriler SPSS 17.0 paket programında analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca anketlerden elde edilen verileri desteklemek amacıyla, 24 öğrenciyle sözlü görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sözlü görüşmelerden elde edilen verilerin nitel analizi gerçekleştirilerek yorumlanmıştır.Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen verilere göre, öğrenciler araştırma ve deneyler yapmayı sevdikleri, derste gerçekleştirdikleri etkinliklerden zevk aldıkları ve günlük yaşamda karşılaştıkları soruların cevabını fende buldukları için uygulanan Fen ve Teknoloji Programını genel olarak olumlu bulmuşlardır. Ancak uygulamada öğrencilerin derse karşı motivasyonlarını artıran ve ilgisini çeken gezi-gözlem, laboratuar uygulamaları, poster çalışmaları ve drama gibi alternatif yöntemlerin yeteri kadar uygulanmadığı belirlenmiştir.Öğrenciler dersin laboratuar ya da özel fen sınıfı gibi kendi öğrenme yaşantılarını oluşturabilecekleri uygulama alanları, öğrenmelerini kolaylaştıracak görsel materyaller, çevrelerinde meydana gelen olayları izlemelerine fırsat verecek gezi-gözlem gibi etkinlikler istediklerini belirtmişlerdir. Ayrıca öğrenciler derslerin günlük konuşma diliyle anlatılmasının derse karşı ilgilerini etkilediğini, deney ve etkinlikleri kendileri gerçekleştirdiklerinde daha iyi anladıklarını belirtmişlerdir.Bu sonuçlara göre program her ne kadar öğrencilerin ilgilerini çekecek ve öğrenmelerini kolaylaştıracak şekilde oluşturulmuş olsa da, uygulamada bazı sorunlar olduğu ve öğretim stratejileri açısından yeterli verim alınamadığı gözlenmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Fen eğitimi, Fen ve Teknoloji Programı, program değerlendirme, program geliştirme.
In this study, the applicability of the 2004 Science and Technology course programme was evaluated in accordance with the viewpoint of the primary school grade 4 and 5 and the secondary school students. For this purpose, we included a total of 1338 students in primary and secondary schools in Samsun province in 2007 ? 2008 academic years, 220 of whom are 4 th grade students, 218 of whom 5th grade students, 295 of whom are 6 th grade students, 225 of whom are 7 th grade students, 169 of whom are 8 th grade students and 211 of whom are 8 th grade students in pilot schools. The data acquired were assessed via SPSS 17.0 package programme. 24 students were also interviewed so as to support the data acquired from the questionnaire.Data acquired from the interviews were interpreted via the qualitative analysis. In accordance with findings of the study, ıt has been concluded that the students look favourably on the Science and Technology Programme as they like doing research and experiments and take pleasure from the activities they do in the lesson and science lesson help them to find answers for the questions they face in everyday life. However, ıt was found out that the alternative methods such as school trips, laboratory activities, poster studies and drama which enhance the motivation of the students were not used effectively enough.The students have expressed that they would like to have a setting for practice such as a laboratory or a special science class which offer them the chance of learning via trial and error and have visual aids which help them facilitate their learning and join the activities such as expeditions which help them observe the happenings occurring around. They have also expressed that the use of daily language in the lessons and their involvement in the experiments and activities enhance their interest in the lesson.Under the light of these results, it has been found out that there are some deficiencies in terms of the practice and teaching strategies though the programme is devised so as to enhance the interest of the students and facilitate their learning.Key words: Science education, Science and Technology Programme, evaluation of the programme, programme development.
