Abstract
Çalışma konumuzu oluşturan sikkeler 2002 yılında Sivas İli Uzuntepe Köyü'nde bulunduğundan dolayı tarafımızdan Sivas Uzuntepe Definesi olarak adlandırılmıştır. Yozgat Müzesi koleksiyonunda bulunan define, Pontus Kralı VI. Mithradates Dönemi'ne (MÖ 120-63) tarihlenen 125 adet bronz sikkeden oluşmaktadır. Sivas Uzuntepe Definesi'nde bulunan sikkeler VI. Mithradates adına; Amisos, Kabeira, Komana, Pharnakia, Amastris, Sinope ve Dia kentleri tarafından darp edilmişlerdir. Define kapsamında, Amisos kentinde 104, Kabeira 1, Komana 3, Pharnakia 1, Amastris 3, Sinope 9 ve Dia kentinde 1 adet sikke darp edilmiştir. Definedeki sikkelerin betimlerinde; ilk tip Athena büstü ve Perseus'tur. Pontus Kralı VI. Mithradates'in Pers soyundan gelmesi sebebiyle Perslerin efsanevi atası olarak kabul edilen Perseus'a ait sikke tipleri Hellenistik Dönem'de birçok kent tarafından basılmıştır. Bu tipteki sikkelerin ön yüzünde, Attika miğferi giymiş sağa bakan Athena büstü yer alırken, arka yüzünde sol elinde Medusa'nın kesilen başı ve sağ elinde bir harpa tutan, Perseus vardır. Bir diğer sikke tipinin ise, ön yüzünde Aigis içerisinde Medusa başı, arka yüzünde ise, omzunda palmiye dalı taşıyan Nike figürü bulunmaktadır. Define içerisindeki diğer sikke tiplerinde ise; Zeus-kartal, Ares-kını içinde kılıç ve Dionysos-cista mystica betimlenmiştir. Tez kapsamında Hellenistik Döneme tarihlenen 125 sikkenin kataloğu yapılarak, define buluntu yeri, gömü tarihi, darp yerleri detaylı incelenmiştir. Ayrıca definedeki sikkeler ikonografik, lejand, birim ve metrolojik olarak tablo ve grafiklerden de yararlanılarak kapsamlı bir şekilde değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında define içerisindeki, sikkelerin ön ve arka yüzlerindeki mitolojik betimlemeler tanıtılarak bu mitolojik figürlerin sikkeler üzerine darp edilme nedenleri ile birlikte, ikonografileri üzerinde de durulmuştur.
The coins constituting the subject of our study were found in Sivas Uzuntepe Village of Sivas Province in 2002. It was named as Sivas Uzuntepe Hoard. The hoard found in the collection of Yozgat Museum, Pontus King VI. It consists of 125 bronze coins dated to the Mithradates Period (120-63 BC). Coins found in Sivas Uzuntepe Hoard VI. in the name of Mithradates; they were battered by the cities of Amisos, Kabeira, Komana, Pharnakia, Amastris, Sinope and Dia. Within the scope of the hoard, 104 coins were struck in the city of Amisos, 1 in Kabeira, 3 in Komana, 1 in Pharnakia, 3 in Amastris, in Sinope 9 and in the city of Dia. In the descriptions of the coins in the hoard; The first type is the bust of Athena and Perseus. The coin types of Perseus, who is considered to be the legendary ancestor of the Persians, were minted by many cities during the Hellenistic Period, since Mithradates VI, King of Pontus, was descended from Persia. On the obverse of this type of coins, there is a bust of Athena, wearing an Attic helmet, facing right, while on the reverse there is Perseus holding the severed head of Medusa in his left hand and a harpa in his right hand. Another type of coin has the head of Medusa in Aigis on the obverse, and the figure of Nike on the reverse, carrying a palm branch on his shoulder. In other coin types in the hoard, Zeus-Eagle is depicted as sword in Ares-Scabbard and Dionysos is represented with cista mystica. within the scope of the thesis by cataloging 125 coins dating to the Hellenistic Period, the place of hoard finds, burial dates and minted places were examined in detail. In addition, the coins in the hoard were evaluated in a comprehensive way by using tables and graphics in iconographic, legend, unit and metrological terms. Also within the scope of the study, the mythological descriptions on the front and back surfaces of the coins in the hoard were introduced, and the reasons for the minting of these mythological figures on the coins, as well as their iconography were emphasized.
