Abstract

In the present study, 8 adult roe deer were used. Intraorbital muscles were made clear by dissection and their length and breadth, the distance of the muscle insertions from the corneal limbus were measured. Junction formations of the insertion tendons of intraorbital muscles to the sclera were identified. The muscle that attached to the sclera and nearest to limbus cornea was rectus lateralis (6.35 ± 0.69 mm) and farthest to limbus cornea was rectus medialis (9.09 ±1.21). All intraorbital muscles except obliquus ventralis and retractor bulbi muscles have tendinous insertions that could be identified macroscopically. The morphology of the insertion tendons of the intraorbital muscles was different from domestic ruminants.
