Publication: Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi Öğretiminde Web 2.0 Araçlarının Kullanılmasının Öğrencilerin Dijital Vatandaşlık Düzeyine, Akademik Başarısına ve Ders Tutumuna Etkisi
Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı; '5. sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersi Bilim Teknoloji ve Toplum öğrenme alanında Web 2.0 araçlarıyla gerçekleştirilen öğretimin, öğrencilerin dijital vatandaşlık düzeyleri, akademik başarıları ve derse karşı tutumları üzerindeki etkisini tespit etmek' olarak belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca çalışmada Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde Web 2.0 araçları kullanılarak yapılan öğretime ilişkin öğrenci görüşlerini belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, gömülü karma desen çerçevesinde, nicel ve nitel veriler bir arada toplanarak ortaya koyulmuştur. Çalışma, Gaziantep ili, Şehitkâmil ilçesinde yer alan özel bir ortaokulda öğrenimine devam eden 41 beşinci sınıf öğrencisiyle yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın amaç ve problemleri doğrultusunda Sosyal Bilgiler dersi beşinci sınıf düzeyi Bilim, Teknoloji ve Toplum öğrenme alanı kazanımları deney grubunda; Animaker, StoryboardThat, Kahoot!, Mindmup, Mentimeter, Prezi, Youtube gibi Web 2.0 araçlarıyla oluşturulmuş etkinlik ve dijital materyaller aracılığıyla işlenirken, kontrol grubunda alışıla gelen yöntem ve materyallerle (sözlü anlatım, kitap, akıllı defter, slayt) işlenmiştir. Deneysel uygulama süreci Covid-19 salgını şartlarına uygun şekilde tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri; araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi Kazanım Değerlendirme Testi, Kan (2012) tarafından geliştirilen Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi Tutum Ölçeği, Öztürk (2015) tarafından geliştirilen Ortaokul Öğrencileri Dijital Vatandaşlık Ölçeği ve yine araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan Dijital Vatandaşlık Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Nicel verilerin analizinde t-Testi, Mann-Whitney-U Testi, Wilcoxon Testi kullanılmıştır. Nitel verilerin çözümlenmesinde nitel içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonunda; Web 2.0 araçları kullanılarak gerçekleştirilen öğretimin; öğrencilerin dijital vatandaşlık düzeyi ve akademik başarıları üzerinde deney grubu lehine olumlu etkisi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen nitel veriler de bu sonuçları desteklemektedir. Bununla birlikte çalışma sonunda; hem deney grubu hem de kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine karşı tutumları üzerinde anlamlı düzeyde bir farkın oluşmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu sonuç ise nitel verilerle uyuşmamaktadır. Sonuçlardan yola çıkılarak; dijital vatandaşlık alanında daha fazla deneysel çalışma yapılması, Web 2.0 araçlarının derslerde daha aktif kullanılması gibi önerilerde bulunulmuştur. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of teaching with Web 2.0 tools in the Science Technology and Society learning field of the fifth grade Social Studies course on the students' digital citizenship levels, academic achievements and attitudes towards the course. In addition, in the study, it was aimed to determine the views of the students about the teaching done by using Web 2.0 tools in the Social Studies course. The study was revealed by collecting quantitative and qualitative data together in the framework of mixed design. The study was carried out with 41 fifth grade students studying in a private secondary school in Gaziantep province, Şehitkamil district. In line with the aims and problems of the study, Social Studies course fifth grade level Science, Technology and Society learning field acquisitions in the experimental group; While it was processed through activities and digital materials created with Web 2.0 tools such as Animaker, StoryboardThat, Kahoot!, Mindmup, Mentimeter, Prezi, Youtube, it was processed with the usual methods and materials (oral narration, book, smart notebook, slide) in the control group. The experimental application process was designed in accordance with the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. The data of the research were collected using the Social Studies course achievement test developed by the researcher, the attitude scale developed by Kan (2012), the digital citizenship scale developed by Öztürk (2015), and the semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher. The t-Test, Mann-Whitney-U Test, and Wilcoxon Test were used in the analysis of quantitative data. Qualitative content analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data. At the end of the study; Teaching carried out using Web 2.0 tools; It was concluded that there was a positive effect on the students' digital citizenship level and academic achievement in favor of the experimental group. The qualitative data obtained also support these results. However, at the end of the study; It was concluded that there was no significant difference in the attitudes of both the experimental group and the control group students towards the Social Studies course. This result is inconsistent with the qualitative data. Based on the results; Suggestions were made such as conducting more experimental studies in the field of digital citizenship and using Web 2.0 tools more actively in lessons.
