Woman in Ottoman Socio-cultural Life

Abstract

Osmanlı toplumunda kadın; müslim, gayr-i müslim, köylü, şehirli, sultanlar ve cariyeler gibi farklı statülerde karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Tezimizde incelenen Osmanlı toplumunda müslüman kadın modelidir. Bu çalışmada Osmanlı sosyo-kültürel hayatında kadının yerinin tespit edilmesine çalışılmıştır. İslam öncesi toplumlarda miras bırakılan bir eşya konumuna indirgenen ve toplumda statü sahibi olmayan kadının hak ettiği değere İslam'la kavuştuğu söylenebilir. Osmanlı devletinde aile ve sosyal düzen büyük ölçüde İslâm hukukunun kurallarıyla tanzim edilmiştir. Osmanlı sosyo-kültürel hayatında İslâm'ın kendisine verdiği hakları kullanma yetkisine sahip olan kadının toplumda eğitim, siyaset, miras, evlenme ve boşanma gibi haklarda diğer toplumlardan üstün statüde olduğu görülmektedir. Examined in our thesis is the model of Muslim woman in Ottoman society. Our thesis examined is a model of Muslim woman. At this study It was focused on determining the role of women in the Ottoman socio-cultural life . Woman demoted to a position bequeathed as goods in pre-Islamic societies and having no status in society can be said that gained deserved value in society with Islam. Family and social pattern in the Ottoman Empire were largely put in order with the rules of shariah. Woman having the power of using the rights vested in her by Islam in the Ottoman socio-cultural life is superior to other communities in terms of the rights such as education, politics, inheritance, marriage and divorce in society.
