Publication: Üniversite Öğrencilerinde Yetersizlik Duygusu ve Duyguları İfade Etme Arasındaki İlişki
Abstract
In this study, the relationship between level of inferiority feeling and level of expressing emotions on university students were investigated. In addition, in the study, levels of inferiority feeling and levels of expressing emotions of university students were investigated in terms of the variables such as gender, age range, perceived socioeconomic income, educational status of the mother, educational status of the father and the state of being together with the parents. The sample group of the research was formed with the data obtained from 405 volunteer university students studying at different universities in the 2020-2021 academic year. The convenient sampling method, which is one of the non-random sampling methods, was used in the study. Demographic Information Form, the Inferiority Feeling Scale and the Emotional Expression Scale were administered as data collection tools. In accordance with the problem statements of the research, in the statistical analysis of the data, independent samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), if ANOVA results are significant the Tukey HSD test were used. In addition hierarchical regression analysis was used. SPSS 24 program was used to analyze the data. Before starting the analyzes, it was checked whether the assumptions of the statistical analyzes to be used to met and then the analyzes were carried out. As a result of the research, it was found to that there is negative relationship between the level of inferiority feeling of students and level of expressing emotions. It was found that the level of expressing emotions of female students is higher than that of male students, the level of expressing emotions of students whose mothers have a high school education level is higher than those of students whose mothers have a primary education level and below, and the level of inferiority feeling of students whose parents are divorced is higher than those whose parents are together. These was no significant relationship between other demographic variables and inferiority feeling and level of expressing emotions. The findings of the research were discussed by examining the previous studies in the literature. Based on the findings of the study, suggestions for researchers, practitioners and parents were presented.
