Abstract
The first Cu(II) complex of p-nitrobenzoxasulfamate (nbs) was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray spectrometry. Triaquabis(p- nitrobenzoxasulfamate)copper(II) monohydrate, [Cu(H<inf>2</inf>O)<inf>3</inf>(nbs)<inf>2</inf>·H<inf>2</inf>O, is mononuclear with square pyramidal geometry at the Cu(II) center. The Cu(II) ion is coordinated by two nbs ligands at the trans positions and three water molecules. The nbs ligand acts as a monodentate ligand through its negatively charged nitrogen atom and the Cu-N bond length is 1.9924(12) Å. The structure exhibits intermolecular hydrogen bonds involving the coordinated and lattice water molecules and the nitro and sulfonyl groups of the nbs ligands. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
