Abstract

Organophosphate (OP) poisonings can cause serious clinical outcome. These poisonings generally occur after oral, inhalation or skin exposures of OP. However, OP poisoning occurred after parenteral administration is rare. The injection of OP to the body can cause different clinical results such as local complications and systemic toxicity. In some cases with acute OP poisoning, the intermediate syndrome may develop which can life threatens as a result of respiratory muscle weakness after 1-4 days of exposure. In this study, we reported a case admitted to the Emergency Department after intramuscular injection of OP to himself and developed intermediate syndrome during the observation, and we also discussed the required clinical precautions after OP injection.
