Publication: Gündelik Hayat Sosyolojisinde Toplumsallaşma Biçimi Olarak Kadın Günleri: Tosya Örneği
Abstract
Based on the distinction between housewives and women working in paid jobs, this research focuses on examining the advantages and disadvantages of the socialization function of women's days in the context of Sociology of Everyday Life. The aim of the study is to determine how the days turn into daily life practice rather than being a leisure time activity. For this purpose, the functions of days for housewives and women working in paid jobs are examined under two headings as a cultural transmission/production tool and an example of conspicuous consumption. The problem statement of our research was determined as 'What are the advantages and disadvantages of women's days during socialization in terms of the formation of women's identity?'. In this study, which was designed with the Phenomenology Pattern of the Qualitative Research method, Semi-Structured Interview and Partially Participated Observation technique were used. The research group was determined as 30 women who actively participated in women's days with the Snowball Sampling method. In accordance with the sample limitation, 15 participants were female housewives, and 15 participants were women working in paid jobs. Day events, four of which were organized indoors, two of which were outdoors, were examined. The results of our research are as follows: 1. Women's days have become a necessity in daily life practices. 2. Women's days function as a cultural production and transmission tool. 3. Women's Day is a socialization tool that has different meanings for housewives and paid women. 4. Women's days have the function of providing economic income, which has different meanings for housewives and women working in paid jobs. 5. Women's days are a tool that has the characteristics of a spectacle society by directing fashion and consumption
