A total of 202 patients with brucellosis who were followed in our clinic between January 2000 and December 2004 were evaluated retrospectively. Of cases, 84 (41.5%) were female, 118 (58.5%) were male and the mean age was 44.2 +/- 18.3 (16-83). A 105 of 202 cases (52%) were dealing with high risk occupations such as cattle breeding, farmer and veterinarian. Of the cases, 109 (54%) were coming from Ankara where our hospital was placed and remaining from commonly Corum, Cankirn, Yozgat and other neighbour cities. There was a history of brucellosis in 70 of cases (37.4%) in their family and 92 of cases (45.5%) in environment where they live. Possible source for brucellosis was consumption of fresh cheese in 191 of cases (94.6%) and cattle breeding in 142 of cases (70.3%). The rate of vaccination against brucellosis was only 4.2 % in brucellosis cases who were dealing with cattle breeding.en_US
